Illustration Work

Survivor

These pieces are more illustration work than the buildings I usually do. They are inspired from various books I have read or films I have watched that I wanted to capture on paper. The first one is of a soldier or survivor from some post apocalyptic environment. I wanted to capture a weather beaten look and the cold environment around him so I used an ink wash which adds an cooler more icy feel than just standard ink. He now looks prepared but still like he will have to struggle through the apocalypse.

This is a dwarf that I wanted to give the look of the ranger. The actual look and design came from many different sources of existing dwarf artwork. I took different pieces of artwork or the looks of real armour and added them if they looked good. The final look is that of someone who has traveled, looks hardened and is stubbornly continuing.

The Templar is a transcription of someone’s work found online. The difference is their picture was in colour and done digitally. I wanted to see if I could achieve the same feeling of motion that was in their drawing with my own way of pen work. I did this by using looser lines and adding extra thin ones around the figures outlines. This gives the impression that The Templar is striding forwards into battle; the look I wanted.

  2. Thank you for liking “World War 2 Shark Plane” and for following Imagine New Designs Gallery. You did a great job on these illustrations. 🙂 They are so detailed and have interesting textures and shading. I especially like the Templar.

I’m happy to discover there are more of us, readers with habit of drawing their own illustrations :). NIce drawings, the movement of the knight is great
